Ultimate live action show Top Town is coming to TV2, with spectacular new games and the toughest obstacle course the country has ever seen! Jellie Park, Christchurch is about to become the greatest battle ground in New Zealand, as fifteen towns fight for the pride of their community and the coveted Top Town trophy.

Fifteen contenders from the Far North, to Auckland, through the heart of middle New Zealand, to the Wild West and the Deep South, are all looking to take out the title of Top Town 2009. Each week three towns will put their bodies, hearts and minds on the line, as pride turns into pain… competing in four thrilling rounds with spectacular pile-ups that could cost their team and their town a shot at the title.

Hosted by Marc Ellis, Mikey Havoc and Hayley Holt in front of a live audience, only six towns will make the semi-finals and the chance to compete for the ultimate trophy. It’s a case of survival of the fittest, the strongest and the smartest, as Top Town 2009 is tougher, rougher, and meaner than ever before!

The contenders for the Top Town title are Ashburton, Gisborne, Gore, Greymouth, Masterton, Motueka, Oamaru, Otorohanga, Papakura, Queenstown, Taupo, Timaru, Whakatane, Whangarei and the host city Christchurch.

Each town has twelve players ready to do battle, six good, keen men and six wonder women in light (under 75kg), middleweight (75-90kg) and heavyweight categories (over 90kg).

And every town has a superhero with special powers, from the awesome strength of Taupo’s Mr T to the wiley ways of Motueka’s Mot Man!  Watch out for the superheroes to save the day … in some games they have the advantage, but there’s a catch – towns can only play their superhero once, and they must decide before the challenge begins.

Top Town games are a combination of team and individual challenges, with non-stop thrills, spills, action and monster pile-ups. It takes brains as well as braun to succeed, as games require strategy and skill as well as physical prowess and ability.

The games begin with our unbeatable obstacle course. Each team needs to fly across our big balls, rollers and greasy pole, but at the same time try to avoid a crash landing!

The Top Town giant slippery slide is set to push the towns to their limits, with games involving a balancing battle with enormous ‘T’ shaped objects, giant whales, and a super-sized pin-ball machine that will bring ‘em down and knock ‘em out!

The high tower is spring loaded to test the balance, coordination and sheer grunt of every competitor … a mix of bowling, batting and wrestling skills are compulsory here, and anyone with a fear of heights need not apply!

And bring on Top Town’s secret weapon the infamous, unforgiving rolling road, the wildest ride on the show and guaranteed to bring even the strongest superhero to his knees …

And the killer game to end all games, the decider, a combination of obstacle, giant slide and brain-busting puzzle … the ultimate town tester and the game that decides who goes home … and who lives to fight another day.
